When Alysha came to CPC, she was determined to have an abortion. But after talking with her patient advocate about her faith in God and praying about the decision, she knew she couldn’t go through with it.

“I can’t do this. I have to find a way to get rid of it,” thought Alysha, when she learned she was pregnant again. Googling for abortion pills, she came across ads for Planned Parenthood and CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics. She clicked on CPC’s clinics and filled out her information, and one of our staff members contacted her to schedule an appointment. When Alysha arrived at our clinic, Ellie, her patient advocate, welcomed her. “It seemed like she was treating me as a family member, as a friend,” remembers Alysha. Ellie asked her about her beliefs and where things stood in her life, including how her belief in God impacted the decision she wanted to make. “She had me realize it’s OK to make decisions for yourself and not to please others,” says Alysha. “I also knew it was not part of my faith…, and she had me see that for myself.” Talking and praying with Ellie changed Alysha’s mind about going through with the abortion. “I had to really do some praying about it,” she says, “but I knew deep down that it was not part of what I believe in.” During her appointment, Alysha discovered via ultrasound that she was pregnant with twins! “That was a shocker,” she laughs, adding that CPC’s support didn’t end there. “I kept in contact with Ms. Ellie throughout the whole [pregnancy], and she was very supportive. She would send me encouraging messages and scriptures.” Upon delivery, Alysha also received a care package for each baby. “I know you all impact lives every day,” she says, “but I thank God for leading me to CPC because He saved my twins and, ultimately, saved me! I chose LIFE x 2! I’m so grateful.”
