‘I consider him my blessing from God.’ – Alex’s Story
After seeing the ultrasound, Alex changed her mind about her pregnancy. She says “I didn’t want to hurt something that had a heartbeat, something that had life.”
The way I found CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics originally was on Google. I was looking up places for free ultrasounds near me, and CPC popped up, and it said ‘free.’ Usually when things say ‘free,’ there’s a catch. I ended up going to my appointment, and everyone there was really nice and very helpful.
Before going to CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics, my boyfriend, Eli, and I planned not to keep the baby because of the financial aspect of it and feeling like I was young. So going into it, that was my mindset. But when I was there, they did an ultrasound, and I was able to see his flicker of a heartbeat. I didn’t want to hurt something that had a heartbeat, something that had life. And that’s really what changed my mind…when I saw his heart beating. I think that really made a huge difference!
After talking to the staff and hearing about the parenting classes, I went home and thought about it. I talked to Eli and convinced him, and we decided to keep the baby.
We went to all the parenting classes. We loved them! Because I’m the youngest child, I had never had experience with babies whatsoever…going to those classes really helped a lot. I learned a lot there! We met other people, other couples like us. All the free stuff we ended up getting helped us out a lot too. That, combined with the baby shower, and we were pretty much set. I don’t think we really had to get anything else.
If I hadn’t gone to CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics—I hate to say it, but—my son, Levi, probably wouldn’t be here today. I consider him my blessing from God. I’m extremely lucky to have him. The best part about being a mom is seeing his smile, his beautiful face, and watching him grow every day.
Eli, Levi’s father says, “Providing for everything that he could ever want or need makes me proud to wake up every morning. He is my reason to work hard and provide.”
