‘They helped me choose LIFE for myself.’
Coty’s Story
Coty was not confused. She was not undecided. She was planning to have an abortion because she truly believed she could not survive another pregnancy.
As a single mother of two, Coty already knew what it meant to carry everything alone. She had just moved back to Virginia from California. Her family had turned their backs on her. The father of her child was across the country. She had no job, no stability, and she was battling depression. She felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and invisible.
She knew she wanted her baby. But wanting something does not magically create support, money, or relief. She did not think she had the strength to struggle again.
“I walked into the CPC’s pregnancy medical clinic already defeated.”
But instead of judgment, she was met with kindness. Instead of shame, she found compassion. She sat down with Jannie, her Advocate, and told her everything. The fear. The loneliness. The truth about how she felt like she was barely surviving. And Jannie listened.
When Coty saw her baby on the ultrasound, something inside her shifted.
“I realized I wasn’t weak – I was overwhelmed. I wasn’t incapable – I was unsupported. And for the first time in a long time, someone stood beside me and said, ‘You don’t have to do this alone.’”
CPC’s pregnancy medical clinic did not promise her that the road would be easy. They promised presence. They promised she would not have to walk it alone.
That changed everything, and Coty Chose LIFE!
She attended CPC’s Great Expectations parenting classes, and those classes became her anchor. Meeting other moms who were scared and tired, yet still choosing to show up, reminded her that she was not alone in her struggle. Over time, hope replaced despair.
Today, Coty is the proud mother of a baby boy she once thought she could not carry. She says he pulled her out of a darkness she did not think she would survive.
