“This was more than just a situation to figure out; this was my baby.”
When she first contacted CPC, Patrice was facing more questions than answers.
At 36 years old and already a mother, she had believed her family was complete. A new pregnancy felt overwhelming, especially as she and her husband were navigating a painful season in their marriage. Their relationship was strained, and they had begun discussing the possibility of divorce.
“I remember feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about what the future would look like if I had another child,” she shared. “Because of that, I was considering different options and trying to figure out what would be best for my life and my family.”
At CPC, she found a place where she could slow down, ask questions, and process what she was facing. Her patient advocate listened, answered her questions, and walked with her through the appointment at her own pace.
“She never pressured me but instead helped me walk through each step,” she said. “That meant more to me than she probably realized at the time.”
Then came the ultrasound.
Until that moment, the pregnancy had felt like another overwhelming circumstance she needed to navigate. But seeing her baby on the screen changed the way she viewed the decision before her.
“Seeing that little life on the screen made everything feel real in a way it hadn’t before,” she shared. “In that moment, something in my heart shifted. It helped me realize that this was more than just a situation I needed to figure out; this was my baby.”
And because of that, Patrice chose LIFE! On November 20, 2025, she welcomed her son, Paxton.
“I can say it was one of the most important decisions of my life,” she said. “Being Paxton’s mom has been such a blessing. I love his sweet face, his little personality, and the joy he brings into our home.”
But Paxton’s LIFE was not the only part of her story that began to change.
During her pregnancy, she attended CPC’s parenting classes, and her husband began attending with her. The classes gave them practical tools for parenting, but they also became a source of encouragement during the difficult season in their marriage.
“The parenting classes were amazing,” she shared. “My husband even came with me, and those classes became a place where we not only learned practical parenting skills but also found encouragement for our relationship.”
Prayer was especially meaningful. “Each class included prayer for us, and that meant a lot during the time when we were struggling,” she said.
As they continued showing up together, something began to change. Instead of moving toward divorce, they began rebuilding their relationship. “Today we are no longer separated, and we are continuing to grow together as a family,” she said.
CPC’s support even continued after Paxton was born. Her patient advocate stayed in touch as she adjusted to life with a newborn. “They gave me great information about breastfeeding and caring for a newborn, which has been incredibly helpful as a new mom again,” she shared.
Looking back, she sees more than an unexpected pregnancy. She sees a season in which God used uncertainty to bring new LIFE, growth, and restoration to her family.
“God has taught me a lot about faith, patience, and trusting His plan even when I couldn’t see the full picture,” she said. And the baby she once felt so uncertain about has become a daily reminder of what can be waiting on the other side of fear.
“He reminds me every day that sometimes the things we are most unsure about can become the greatest gifts. I’m so grateful for CPC and the role they played in helping me during one of the most important moments of my life,” she said.
