Elena’s Story
Elena was 18 when she stood in the bathroom staring at a positive pregnancy test, feeling as though her entire world had suddenly shifted beneath her.
She was still living at home, and her boyfriend, now her fiancé, was away serving in the military. When she called to tell him she was pregnant, his silence frightened her. Before long, she realized he was leaning toward abortion.
“I was shocked,” Elena remembers. “I believed life began at conception, yet I also knew I wasn’t in a place to have a baby.”
By the next morning, Elena’s face was swollen from crying. Overwhelmed and unsure what to do, she picked up her phone and searched online for “abortion pill.”
Instead, she found CPC.
Elena submitted an appointment request through CPC’s website and received a call just minutes later. That same day, she walked into one of CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics, carrying with her all the voices competing for her attention: her boyfriend’s concerns, the fear of what her family might think, her own uncertainty, and the convictions of her faith.
During the appointment, Elena told her patient advocate about her relationship with Christ. Her advocate responded with a question Elena has never forgotten: “Would you rather be judged by your peers, or by God?”
For Elena, that one question cut through everything else, and because of it, she chose LIFE!
“At that moment, and after learning I was five weeks along, I knew I would have my baby, no matter what anyone said or how my family might react.”
Her circumstances did not immediately change. Her boyfriend still did not want her to continue the pregnancy. But when fear and pressure were speaking loudly, CPC became another voice – a voice reminding Elena of what she already believed about God and about the precious, preborn LIFE she was carrying.
In time, however, her boyfriend’s heart changed too. As the pregnancy progressed, the young man who had initially leaned toward abortion became excited about becoming a dad.
And CPC kept speaking.
A couple of weeks later, Elena returned for an ultrasound. She knew intellectually that her baby would have a heartbeat, but nothing prepared her for seeing it.
“My eyes filled with tears,” she remembers. “I loved what I saw. I loved my baby.”
As the pregnancy continued, CPC’s voice remained part of Elena’s life. Through parenting classes, she learned CPR, newborn care, diapering, and other practical skills. What began as preparation gradually became anticipation.
“These classes didn’t just prepare me,” she says. “They made me excited to meet her.”
On April 1, 2026, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. When her daughter was placed on her chest, Elena began to cry. “I realized I was holding my entire world in my arms.”
Looking back, Elena remembers how strongly she believed the pregnancy meant the end of the plans she had for her life. At the time, she could only see what she thought she was losing. Today, she sees something very different.
“God wasn’t taking anything from me,” Elena says. “He was giving me someone who would change me in ways I couldn’t have understood at the time.”
That is the difference a voice can make.
When Elena was frightened and other voices were pointing her toward abortion, CPC had the opportunity to speak truth, hope, and LIFE – through the ultrasound, through encouragement, through parenting classes, and through preparation for the day Elena would finally hold her daughter in her arms.
“CPC walked with me through one of the hardest moments of my life,” Elena says, “and because of them, I found the strength to choose motherhood.”
