When Destiny found out she was pregnant, her first thought was “I don’t think I can do this.”
Destiny and her husband, Yancey, had just moved to Virginia, hoping for a fresh start. They were living with family, struggling financially, and trying to build stability for their two little ones. Yancey had recently left the Army and was searching for steady work. After two long years of pursuing a contract with the Navy, Destiny had finally been offered the opportunity she believed would help turn everything around. Then she discovered she was pregnant.
For the first time in her life, she considered abortion.
She says, “All I was thinking was, ‘I have to put my family first.’” In fear and desperation, she made an appointment to have an abortion. But four days before her scheduled abortion, Destiny and Yancey came to one of CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics seeking guidance.
During her appointment, her advocate gently asked her a simple question: “If you believe in God, then why are you considering abortion?”
“That question stayed with me,” Destiny says. “I couldn’t shake it.”
After seeing her baby’s heartbeat on the ultrasound screen and returning home, she opened her Bible and read about Moses standing before the burning bush. Moses told God he could not do what was being asked of him because of his limitations. But God reminded Moses that He sees the beginning and the end.
“That story resonated with me,” Destiny explains. “I realized I was looking at everything through tunnel vision — from a place of what we didn’t have. If I believe God is the supplier of all our needs, then why was I questioning whether I could keep this pregnancy?”
In that moment, Destiny Chose LIFE. She canceled her abortion appointment, and God began to work.
Destiny says this journey led her into a true relationship with Christ for the first time. In time, Yancey also placed his faith in the Lord and is now preparing for ministry. Today, they are active in their church, raising their children to know and love Jesus, and sharing His Word with others.
Looking back, Destiny says, “None of this would have counted had God not been a part of it. My daughter would not be here today.”
Because someone supported CPC, Destiny received an ultrasound. Because someone gave, she encountered truth, compassion, and hope. Because someone chose to invest in LIFE, her family was transformed.
