“The ultrasound finally gave me hope of what my heart really wanted.”
Shortly after my husband came home from deployment [with the military], I realized that I was pregnant. I had a thousand thoughts on my mind, the first being my two children I already had. What were they going to think? Especially my eldest, who was 15 years old at the time. Also, I was still finishing school, a goal I had my heart set on completing in order to start a new career.
One day, I went online and googled pregnancy clinics. My husband and I were not ready for another child, so abortion was an option. CPC’s pregnancy medical clinics popped up, and I remember scrolling through the website and noticed how client-centered the clinic seemed. A lot of people had very positive comments to say [in the reviews], so I ended up following my gut and made an appointment to visit with my husband.
While I was there, the staff were so professional and supportive, and I did not feel judged. I had an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. When I took a glance at the screen, I immediately fell in love. All the time prior I was considering having an abortion. The ultrasound finally gave me hope of what my heart really wanted.
Although I was scared, I finally knew I wanted to move forward with my pregnancy to full-term and love my baby from that moment on. Looking at my baby’s heartbeat on the screen impacted my decision to keep him. I was not going to take away a life this precious.
Now that I look back, I thank CPC for opening my eyes and showing me that, regardless of my decisions, they were going to be 100% supportive of me. The resources they offered really helped my family. Not only did CPC help with a lot of baby supplies, they have helped me and my husband spiritually also. My husband is now a firm believer in faith and now believes that things happen for a reason. He loves our child unconditionally.
Our baby boy is our unexpected blessing, and every time I see my husband bonding with our son it’s as if we were never indecisive in our struggles to keep our unborn child. He brings happiness to our home, and my two girls love their brother unconditionally. I never thought I would have three children, but I believe this is the perfect number for my family.
Being a mother is, and has always been, my best accomplishment. To see my children happy and fulfilled in life is what makes me realize I am doing something right: being the best mother I can be, despite our struggles and unexpected outcomes.
Thank you to CPC for the support and positivity, especially during the Great Expectations Parenting Classes. We are forever thankful for the love we have received.
